What do you think of this diamond’s specs?
Blue Nile LD10761398
This diamond is not a good choice, it has a very strong black windowing and wouldn’t look good in person.
Something like this would look much better:
Blue Nile LD13069739
Blue Nile LD13508256
Oh really, glad I didn’t order it then, how did I not see that?
If my budget is 4,500 for the diamond are the below options you mentioned the very best I can get for my budget?
It’s hard to see something you’re not looking for. And no worries, feel free to ask as many questions as you want, that’s why I’m here!
Yes, those two diamonds from my previous email were the best options I could find in that carat/price range. They have fantastic specs and would look amazing in any setting you put them into.
What are the key things I should be looking for in a good quality emerald diamond ?
I noted one you mentioned had a faint fluorescence, I thought I had to stay away from this?
What are the top things I need to look at when searching for the emerald diamond?
For emeralds cut, we like to keep the depth and table % below 70%. We also recommend keeping the L:W ratio between 1.30 and 1.50 (depending on your preferences). The culet should always be none and the polish and symmetry grades either Excellent or Very good. Girdle can be basically anything, but you should avoid extremely thick/thin girdles.
Regarding the color grades, anything above an H grade looks eye-clean in most settings. The clarity grade should be a bit higher as the glassy appearance of emerald cuts makes inclusions more visible. I always go for VS2+ eye-clean options.
Faint fluorescence is fine, it wouldn’t affect the diamond in any negative way. Medium fluorescence is also fine on an H and lower colors, but you should avoid it on G+ because then it might end up looking hazy.
Thanks, that is very helpful. I really love the Blue Nile LD13508256.
I’m phoning up in the morning to place the order, how exciting! 😉
That’s fantastic news!
