Hi.
I’m looking at two oval diamonds on James Allen. One has a table of 53%, and one is 63%. Both depths look fine. Which one do you think is preferable? Also, one has a thick to very thick girdle, the other is medium to thick. Does this affect appearance of just weight? Thanks so much!!!! 😊. BTW, these are .80 and .91 cts.
Can you please send me links to those diamonds?

This one is absolutely stunning. It has a very well distributed bow-tie and fantastic overall specs. The girdle thickness is good. As long as it’s not Extremely thick (which affects the actual size) or Extremely thin (which can have an effect on the diamond’s integrity), you don’t have to worry.

This one has already been purchased.
I actually became worried about missing out on one of these two diamonds over the weekend, so I bought one!!! I chose the .80 E colored stone because the magnified video view seemed brighter and had more flash than the other one. Would you mind giving me your honest opinion, after a comparison? It’s not too late to switch them.
The diamond looks fantastic both in the video and on paper, the cut parameters, clarity notes and other characteristics are top-notch. The diamond truly was an excellent choice.
So, I guess you don’t have a “favorite” between these two? Both videos looked great to me, but the E color one seemed brighter in the video. I’m no expert.
You have a good eye for diamonds and both of those options are absolutely gorgeous. But the E one has an added bonus in terms of a slightly larger table (it might look a tad larger while still maintaining maximum brilliance). You got a great diamond for yourself and I can’t wait to hear how you like it when it arrives.
I guess you can tell that I LOVE DIAMONDS!! LOL! I have done so much research into the proper criteria for various shapes of diamonds. It’s a hobby of mine. I have an emerald cut ring on order at James Allen, too! It should arrive soon. I am really spoiling myself, but you only live once, right?
I feel a bit let down now that my decisions have all been made, but it’s been a really fun process. Thanks again for your help.
Diamonds are exciting and it’s fun to study them. Are emerald and oval cut your favorite shapes? It’s not the worst way of spoiling yourself when it’s something that will make you happy and that you’re gonna wear every day.
You’ve been so sweet and helpful. I’ve only owned round diamonds but wanted to try different shapes. Emerald shape is so unique, and of course I did tons of research and looked at many before choosing one. It’s in a simple platinum setting with small tapered baguettes on each side. Thanks for listening. ☺
It was my pleasure helping a fellow diamond enthusiast! Emeralds are so beautiful and classy, I think it was a wonderful first step into the fancy shapes territory.
