As a Proposal Planner at The Heart Bandits I love when I get to to see unique stories come to life. It is especially endearing when I am lucky enough to help recreate a moment that pretty much defines when a couple knows they are meant for each other.
That is exactly what happened with David. Back when David and Susie were first dating they took a trip to Hawaii. On this trip, they went to a luau and had an amazing time there. While hula dancers were dancing, they took a moment to dance under the beautiful stars and enjoy their time together. It was this moment that David really knew that Susie was for him. It was a perfect scene and we knew we had to help him recreate that to make a very romantic marriage proposal idea.
For David’s backstory, he told Susie that they were going to go watch Lion King at a local theater in Santa Monica. As they arrived, Susie noticed that there was no one in the theater. David lead her onto the stage, which was beautifully decorated with Hawaiian beach accents, Susie’s nickname “Shorty Boo” on a sign, Hawaiian flowers, and most importantly stars (made of lanterns) above their heads. Susie didn’t know what was going on but just then, on David’s cue, hula dancers appeared and started dancing to some Hawaiian music.
They took this opportunity to dance once again under the stars as the hula dancers reminded them of their amazing time. When their dance ended, one more surprise appeared. A musician carrying an acoustic guitar approached and serenaded them with their song “Perfect”. In the middle of the song, David created his own romantic moment and proposed to Susie. She of course said yes! It was a touching moment that was a recreation of another.
